The Los Angeles Philharmonic continues its commitment to the music of Philip Glass.
In 2006, John Adams conducted scenes from Akhnaten for the orchestra's first Minmalist Jukebox. In (maybe) 2008, Leonard Slatkin conducted Glass' Violin Concerto (No.1) at the Hollywood Bowl with the orchestra's concertmaster Martin Chalifour in addtion to musical interludes from Orphée. Then in 2009, Glass made his Hollywood Bowl debut with the LA Phil in the orchestra/pge arrangement of Koyaanisqatsi. Then in 2011 the pge returned to the Bowl for Powaqqatsi with the LA Phil. In 2012, the orchestra co-commissioned Symphony No.9. Then this spring they performed Glass' epic Civil Wars: Act V "A Tree is best measured when it is down," also part of the Minimalist Jukebox.
Featuring the World Premiere of Glass' Concerto for Two Pianos & Orchestra
Bravo to the LA Phil! Wish other orchestras would get the memo.

This is the first I've heard of a "double" piano concerto; does anyone know if it is a reworking of 'Four Movements for Two Pianos' (or 'Two Movements for Four Pianos') or a completely new beast?
